As I mentioned, The TCY Challenge is a multi-level game. Player's scores are calculated by season, category, and a final cumulative score.

I also believe that building a dynasty in The College Years is a multi-level experience. All players will likely struggle in the early years before achieving success. Consequently, the scores during the early seasons will be much lower than those in the final seasons.

The Bonus Point system is designed to offset some of this imbalance in scoring. That system is described in more detail elsewhere, but I would like to outline the game "Phases" as I see them and describe how the bonus points relate to these phases.

The Early Phase (Years 1 to 5)

-Players all start off as a struggling college football team. Early strategic decisions will dictate how rapidly the program developes. This era will likely be characterized by limited on the field success, minimal player talent, and difficult recruiting.
-During this phase, players who achieve the highest season ending point total will earn a bonus of 1,000 points.

The Road to Success Phase (years 5 to 10)

-During this phase, players are beginning to achieve some success. Player scores will increase as conference titles are won and post-season appearances are made. Players will now have rosters of athletes they have recruited. Recruiting should become easier.
-During this phase, players who achieve the highest season ending point total will earn a bonus of 750 points.

The "In the Hunt" Phase (years 11 to 15)

-During this phase, players should have a very sound recruiting situation and be able to field quality players. Teams will likely be in the hunt for conference titles or possibly even national titles during this time. Assistants and scouts should become more talented as team prestige increases. It's a matter of just putting a few pieces together to make that final jump to dominance.
-During this phase, player scores will be much higher than the early phase. A bonus of 500 points will be awarded to players that achieve the highest year end scores during this time.

Dominance (years 16 to 20)

-The name says it all. Players should become a dominant team at some point during this phase. Teams should be progressing deep into the post-season and provide a number of award winners each sesason. Major awards and championships will make point totals very high.
-No bonus points will be awarded during this final phase.
